Isaac's Broken Arm

Sunday afternoon (August 18th) Isaac and Andy went to play at the park.  While Isaac was climbing on the monkey bars he fell and landed on his back.  His arm was bent behind him and Andy immediately knew something was wrong.  To make a long story short...I met them at the after hours children's clinic and they sent us to Blair E Batson Children's Hospital Emergency Room.  They admitted him pretty quickly and gave him some morphine for pain.  It made him groggy but also comfortable which was a relief to us.  After several x rays it was determined that part of the bone in his elbow had broken off and flipped over.  He was going to need surgery the next morning.  We spent the night in the hospital and went to surgery about 10:30 the next morning.  The procedure took about an hour and a half.  The doctor made an incision in order to move the piece of bone back into place and also put in 3 pins.  Isaac was such a trooper and so brave.  We were able to go home that night and it felt so nice to be able to sleep in our own beds.  He will be in a cast for 6 weeks and we can only hope and pray that it goes by quickly! So many friends and family came our rescue with food, gifts for Isaac, visits, and lots of prayers.  We are forever grateful.   To top things off...he celebrated his 5th birthday Wednesday.  This will be a birthday he'll always remember!
